Ballard signs $1.2M deal with Danish broadband networks

VANCOUVER — Ballard Power Systems’ European subsidiary has signed $1.2 million in framework agreements that will provide FCgen–H2PM direct hydrogen backup power systems to operators of fibre optic broadband networks in Denmark.
Ballard Power Systems Europe A/S will supply Eniig and Fibia A/S with and initial 30 5-kilowatt (kW) systems that includes installation, hydrogen storage and power management equipment. This includes 20 systems for Eniig and 10 systems for Fibia.
Eniig and Fibia’s plans call for the total deployment of 70 to 100 additional systems during 2019.
“We plan to convert all our battery backup power systems to fuel cell technology over the coming few years, as a result of the greater reliability, lower operating cost and stronger ROI that fuel cells deliver,” said Nick Højvang Andersen, an Eniig installation specialist
