A record number of nearly 300 people attended the Private Motor Truck Council of Canada (PMTC) Annual Conference at the Hamilton Convention Centre. The three-day event also welcomed 63 sponsors (with 50 exhibitors).

“Thank you to everyone who recently attended and contributed to our 2023 Annual Conference,” said Mike Millian, President, PMTC. “Also, thank you to all our speakers who volunteered their time to provide educational value and entertainment for our guests, your presentations are what make our event a top-notch educational value to our attendees.

The two-day event featured 11 seminars, a plethora of awards, exhibitor’s showcase, annual general meeting, Chairman’s dinner, and many networking opportunities.

By far the most informative and important part of the conference was the educational seminars. On day one seminars included: a legal update, introduction to the 2022 PMTC Canadian Benchmarking Survey, navigating the employee driven labour market, fatigue impairment within motor carriers, risk management, generational leadership, past, present, and future, and how eco driving translates to a safer fleet.

Day two seminars offered were a Transport Canada update on federal initiatives, planning and deploring RNG, hydrogen and electrification to attain fleet emissions reductions, going beyond ELD data with fiona the fleet manager, and load securement in Canada and harmonization with the USA.

Next to the seminars, the exhibitor showcase was the place to be, as 50 exhibitors displaying their new technologies, products, and information that they offer. For many, this was also the place to network with others in the industry.

Many awards were handed out by PMTC, who offers a robust awards program, as part of the conference.
