$914M in contracts for Bruce Power component replacement project

The facility, which generates 30% of the province’s electricity, began a life-extension program on Jan. 1, 2016, which will see the site operate through 2064. The component replacement project involves Units 3 to 8, beginning in 2020.
Several Ontario manufacturers will be supplying the project.
BWXT Canada Inc.’s share is $642 million for manufacturing 32 steam generators at its Cambridge plant.
Laker Energy Products ($144 million) will make end fittings, liners and flow elements at its Oakville plant.
Cobourg’s Cameco Fuel Manufacturing’s contract for $62 million is for calandria tubes and annulus spacers for the six units.
And Nu-Tech Precision Metals, in Arnprior, has a $66 million contract to produce zirconium alloy pressure tubes for Units 6 and 3Bruce Power Life-Extension Program, which started in January 2016 with Asset Management Program investments and includes the MCRs on Units 3-8, remains on time and on budget.
