KINGSEY FALLS, Que. — Cascades is launching a cardboard container 100% recycled and recyclable material for fresh food packaging for the North American market.

The paper products company based in Kinsey Falls, Que. said the tray made made from 100% recycled fibres, mainly from post-consumer sources, is certified to Forest Stewardship Council standards.

A patented water-based barrier coating protects it against humidity to enhance the packaging efficiency without negatively affecting the recyclability of the cardboard, making it suitable for packaging of fruits, vegetables and proteins. The coating replaces wax- or plastic-based applications widely used in cardboard food packaging.

Cascades has 11,000 employees who work in more than 90 production facilities in North America and Europe.
