Flair Packaging expands Calgary operations with new equipment and facility

Flair Packaging has expanded its Canadian manufacturing operations with the installation of a 10-color flexographic press and a solventless laminator at its facility in Calgary, Alta. According to a company statement, the expansion also includes the acquisition of a second plant in Calgary, adding 35,000 square feet of warehouse and production space. This new facility now houses the company’s converting equipment.

The company stated that this investment is the first in a series of planned expansions aimed at increasing its Canadian manufacturing capabilities. Additional equipment installations are expected in the future.

“Unprecedented disruptions in recent years have exposed supply chain vulnerabilities across all industries, and we took that as a signal to evolve,” said Young So, Flair’s President and Owner. “We saw an opportunity to help brands stay agile in the face of changing demand by integrating advanced material innovation with onshore manufacturing. Our goal has always been to make high-performance, value-added packaging solutions more accessible to the North American market.”

The new equipment is intended to support the production of specialty packaging solutions, including customized laminates designed for specific thickness, barrier and performance requirements. The flexographic press is also expected to enhance the visual quality of printed packaging.

Flair’s broader North American operations include a range of high- and standard-barrier materials available in roll stock for form-fill-seal (FFS), lidding, and thermoforming applications, as well as premade pouch formats. The company also maintains an inventory of unprinted roll stock and pouch options for labeling and customization.
