Magellan secures an extra $20M in Airbus A320 work

New package involves the supply of 5-axis machined wing ribs.

TORONTO — Magellan Aerospace has secured a contract with Airbus S.A.S. to manufacture and supply 5-axis machined wing ribs for the single-aisle A320 product family.

This is an additional work package, which Magellan values at US$20 million over the next five years.

The Mississauga, Ont.-based manufacturer said it will invest in a new high-speed, 5-axis machining centre for its plant in Greyabbey, Northern Ireland.

“This new package, together with Magellan’s existing wing rib packages, secures our position as a major supplier on the A320 programme,” said Jim Butyniec, president and CEO of Magellan.

Magellan has operating units throughout Canada, the US, the UK, India and Poland.
