Feds dish out more SODP funding

GUELPH, Ont.: The federal government is continuing to distribute funds to Ontario manufacturers through its Southern Ontario Development Program (SODP).

Hammond Power Solutions Inc. in Guelph, Ont. has received almost $1.5 million to expand its operations and add a research and development test laboratory.
The company manufactures dry-type magnetics for global markets.

CRS Electronics Inc., a contract manufacturer of light-emitting diode (LED) technologies in Welland, Ont., is getting up to $825,595 to advance the research and development of high-efficiency LEDs.

Approximately $100 million has been allocated to the SODP in 2009/2010, including the following:


• Nearly $63 million through a general intake process;

• $20 million through an intake for the food and beverage-processing sector;

• $15.75 million for the Canadian Manufacturers and Exporters’ SMART Program.
