MONTREAL—Domtar Corp. has purchased Attends Healthcare Inc., a manufacturer and supplier of incontinence products, for $315 million including debt.

Domtar says the purchase from KPS Capital Partners is expected to close in the third quarter, Domtar says.

“This is a good transaction that allows us to take measured steps into the consumer products market in a product area where high single-digit global growth is expected,” says John Williams, Domtar’s CEO.

Williams also said Domtar will consume some of the high-quality fluff pulp produced at Attend’s Plymouth, N.C., mill.

Attends produces a line of incontinence care products and washcloths marketed primarily under the Attends brand name in the U.S. and Canada.

The company, which employs 300 people and has $200 million of annual sales, operates a 775,000-square-foot facility with nine production lines and a distribution centre in Greenville, N.C..
