Harris Canada to complete work on CF-18 project at Calgary facility

CALGARY—Harris Canada Inc. has opened its avionics operation today in Calgary following a $2.3‑million investment to enhance the facility. The plant will support work to be completed under the company’s six year $273 million services contract with the Government of Canada for the CF-18 Avionics Optimized Weapon System Support (OWSS) program.
At 36,700 square feet, the facility is now 35 per cent larger. Harris has also invested $1 million in a fully-integrated software suite to provide supply chain management, production control and configuration management solutions to deliver advanced support for the CF-18 Avionics program.
Harris employs 40 people at the Calgary location and more than 600 across Canada. Its parent company, Harris Corporation headquartered in Melbourne, Florida has annual revenues of about USD$5 billion. The company specializes in international communications and information technology for government and commercial clients.
