VCI provides immersed pumping action

07_73KSBmovitecKSB Pumps Inc. has added to its Movitec high-pressure pumps line. Elements (including intake) on the VCI models are immersed in a tank, reservoir or well. The motor and discharge nozzle remain dry and accessible for use in the circulation of cooling or lubricating fluids for machine tools, industrial washing and cleaning processes, condensate recirculation systems, and pressure boosting in general process applications.

The 3-mm mesh strainers over the intake nozzle protect internal components from large solid particles while stainless steel stage casings and impellers reduce energy use. Maintenance is simplified with easy-to-replace cartridge-type mechanical seals that extend service life.

The pumps come in five sizes, with different numbers of stages. The maximum flow rate is
27 m3/hr and the maximum discharge head is 250 m. Fluid temperature ranges between -10 and 120 degrees C.

Pumps eliminate transmission overloading

11_hawehydraulics_v60npumpHAWE’s Hydraulics’ V60N-130 pump is equipped with a variety of option controls, flanges and adaptions to connect additional pumps to a utility vehicle’s through shaft while a serial built-in performance controller protects against transmission overloading.

The pump is direct flange mountable to the power take-off on commercial vehicle gearboxes, or for a standard connection using an SAE flange. A high self-suction speed rating and low noise level make the pump suitable for a range of applications.

Variations with through shaft for flange mounting additional pumps are also available.

Handle low viscosity fluids easily

28_Blackmer_XLBlackmer’s XL series sliding vane pumps meet the handling characteristics of crude oil that’s produced from shale formations, which is typically lighter and cleaner than traditional crude and needs to be transferred by pumps that handle liquids with lower viscosities and particulate levels.

A sliding vane design allows them to self adjust to maintain required flow rates, even when handling thinner liquids. Made of ductile-iron, the pumps withstand sudden thermal shock allowing them to be used in rugged conditions, along with replaceable casing liners and end discs that enable easy rebuilding of the pumping chamber to like-new condition in the field.

Other features include self-priming and dry-capabilities, leak-free mechanical-seal and ball-bearing construction, symmetrical bearing support for even loading and long wear life and an adjustable relief valve that protects against excessive pressures.

The pumps are available in five sizes ranging from 1.25 to 4 in. with flow rates from 17 to 345 gpm. Working pressures are up to 350 psi (24.1 bar) in temperatures up to 148 degrees C.

Pumps target energy savings

70KSBsupremeKSB Pumps Inc. has two new pump families that will help reduce your energy bill.

Its PumpDrive variable frequency drives for mid-sized pumps have adjustable operating speeds to match output characteristics with system requirements. Reducing operating speed cuts energy use for savings of up to 60% compared to adjusting pump outputs by bypass circuits or flow restriction.

The speed controls are compact, modular units that the Mississauga, Ont.-based pump company says easily integrate into any plant environment. Smaller units (up to 55 kW) mount directly on pump motors, while the larger ones (up to 110 kW) are wall or panel mounted.

The units would normally be combined with flow, pressure or temperature sensors as part of a control system that automatically fine-tunes output according to system requirements.

KSB’s SuPremE high-efficiency synchronous reluctance motors with their optimized rotor design deliver 30% higher energy efficiency than conventional electric motors, especially when the motors run at partial loads.

34_9404_Series_SludgePumpFamilyAllegro Industries’ DC enclosed, submersible dewatering pumps operate on 12-V truck or car batteries to deliver up to 43 gpm down to 3/16 in., extracting standing water that contains sand or solids at civil engineering sites or utility pits.

The discharge hose is made of tough PVC and includes fire-hose-style quick-connect fittings. It’s collapsible for compact storage. A V-ring protects the shaft seal from abrasives.

Pumps handle volatile fluids
13MouvexA-Series1French manufacturer Mouvex has upgraded it’s A Series eccentric disc pumps, doubling its maximum differential pressure from 5 bar (72 psi) to 10 bar (145 psi) and the implementation of PN16/ANSI 150 flanges for use in the safe transfer of viscous, non-lubricating, volatile or delicate fluids.

They’re built from ductile iron, an update from cast iron. The positive displacement pumps transfer product up to 250 degrees C at maximum speeds to 750 rpm, maximum flow rates to 242 gpm, and suction and discharge ports from 1 through 4 in. Eccentric disc technology enables self-priming and run-dry capabilities while maintaining constant flow rate regardless of changes in viscosity and pressure. They’re ATEX-certified for use in potentially dangerous environments with the ability to run-dry for up to three minutes.

Mouvex, part of the Dover Corp.’s Pump Solutions Group, is a positive displacement pump manufacturer based in Auxerre, France.

Grinder protects downstream pumps

The Moyno Max-Flow Annihilator grinder system replaces bar rakes and screens as well as drum screen grinders to enhance performance. It’s acustom engineered headworks debris handling system that protects downstream pumps, valves and process equipment in water treatment plants and lift stations.

The Max-Flow system contains two or more Annihilator grinders mounted side-by-side in a stainless steel retrieval frame in the headworks of a waste treatment system and install in an in-line, staggered or offset design to accommodate a variety of channel widths. The frame, engineered-to-order and pre-fabricated, includes guide rails to allow the independent retrieval of each grinder for easy maintenance.

Stainless steel or FRP control panels to control the operation of each grinder independently using manual or automated control systems.

Handle nasty fluids up to 317 GPH

14BredeApexBredel’s APEX optimized hose pumps dose, meter and transfer between 0.7 and 317 gph for tough industrial applications involving corrosive, viscous, shear-sensitive, gaseous, crystallizing fluids or fluids with a combination of these properties.

Models are three pumps in one, with a single pump body adjustable for three hose sizes (10, 15 and 20 mm) when production volumes rise. They handle pressures up to 116 psi and the flow boosted by a new generation of long-lasing hoses that also support repeatable accuracy when dosing additives.

The continuous pumps speed of up to 100 rpm provides a wide capacity range.The cast aluminum housing dissipates heat and maintenance requirements are light for extended up-time and process continuity.

Improve water flow
Neptune Chemical Pump Co.’s Series 7000 mechanically actuated metering pumps eliminate the use of contour plates on the liquid side of thePL-Neptune diaphragm and improve flow in water and wastewater applications with a straight-through valve and head design.

The North Wales, Pa. manufacturer pegs the maximum capacity of the pumps at up to 300 gph (1,135 L/h), 150 psi. and flow rates from .01 to 20 gph. They operate on a manual control that produces speed ranging from 15 to 300 strokes per minute.

EZE-CLEAN valve cartridges can be removed without disturbing the piping. The pumps are manually adjusted from 10% to 100% of capacity via micrometer dial flow or controlled automatically by electric stroke positioners, or by motor speed controls.

Capacity is to 80 gph (302 l/h) simplex and 160 gph (605 l/h) duplex at pressures up to 3,000 psi (210 kg/cm).

Handles harsh chemicals
10watsonSodiumWatson-Marlow’s 620 pumps for sodium hypochlorite combine power and control for wastewater applications. The off-gassing feature prevents vapour lock while maintaining +/- 0.1% accuracy in hypo metering, which contributes to lower chemical use.

High flow rates at pumphead speeds don’t compromise tube life, which extends performance and delivers up to 50% more flow with a control ratio of million:1.

The pump handles harsh chemicals in water and wastewater treatment, including sodium hypochlorite, ferric chloride, sodium bisulfate, aluminum, fluoride, carbon and lime slurries, polymers, aqueous ammonia, potassium permanganate and caustic slurries.

There are no valves or seals to clog, so it requires minimal maintenance.

Eco-friendly power for waterjets
The 30-hp ECO-JET waterjet from Jet Edge Inc. delivers more eco-friendly pumping. It consumes up to 40% less electricity than awaterjet1 50-hp pump thanks to its direct-drive design.

The pump produces up to 1 gpm of 55KSI ultra-high pressure water for precision cutting, cleaning and surface preparation. Running on a 0.015-in. waterjet orifice, it powers most manufacturers’ cutting systems and tools.
