New Flyer wins $28M bus deal from Vancouver
Order for Xcelsior diesel-electrics could grow to 87 units
WINNIPEG: New Flyer Industries Inc. has won an order worth $28 million for 42 Xcelsior diesel-electric hybrid buses from Vancouver’s TransLink to support growing ridership.
The Winnipeg bus manufacturer said the initial order for 25 XDE60 articulated buses for West Vancouver and 17 XD 40 buses for Richmond could grow to 87 units.
The 60-foot XDEs will be delivered in the fourth quarter while the 40-foot XDs are to be delivered in the first quarter of 2013.
“This is our first order from Vancouver since 2008, and we are extremely proud to once again be selected to support TransLink.” said Paul Soubry, New Flyer’s president and CEO.
New Flyer, with plants in Winnipeg, St. Cloud, Minn. and Crookston, Minn., employs 2,200 people.
