Fibrek idling Quebec mill for 12 days

Fibre producer balancing inventory with demand

MONTREAL: Fibrek Inc. says its mill in Quebec will undergo a 12-day shutdown beginning later this month due to market conditions.

The measure will help the Montreal-based fibre producer control its inventory.

The mill in St-Felicien, Que., has capacity to produce 375,000 tonnes of softwood pulp each year.

The downtime will reduce that by 12,000 tonnes, or about three per cent of annual capacity.

The temporary shutdown is set to begin on June 23.
