CO2 partners with Husky Energy on carbon capture pilot project
Operation is expected to start in early 2015.
QUEBEC CITY — CO2 Solutions Inc. has entered into a collaboration agreement with Husky Energy to install and operate a pilot unit capturing up to 15 tonnes of CO2 per day at the energy producer’s Pikes Peak South heavy oil site in Saskatchewan.
Operation is expected to start in early 2015. The project will be funded in part by the government’s ecoENERGY Innovation Initiative program.
The pilot test, on a once-through steam generator, is expected to confirm the positive techno-economics of CO2’s carbon capture process and will provide an operational basis to compare the process against other new and conventional technologies in terms of performance and cost.
CO2 Solutions is a developer of enzyme-enabled carbon capture for stationary sources of carbon pollution.
