GUELPH, Ont.: Canadian Solar Inc. will be supplying an independent power producer in Ontario with 17 megawatts of solar photovoltaic (PV) modules.

Toronto-based Potentia Solar Inc. will use the modules to power a number of commercial rooftop solar systems in major urban areas across the province.

Canadian Solar, a solar technology company based in Guelph, Ont., said under the terms of the master supply agreement, it will provide modules for the development of more than 100 rooftop solar projects to be constructed on commercial, industrial and institutional buildings.

No financial information was released.

The modules will be delivered to Potentia on a per project basis, with all projects to be completed next year.

When Potentia’s projects are completed, enough electricity will be generated to meet the annual needs of approximately 1,700 homes.

Canadian Solar said the 17 megawatts of solar power is expected to create approximately 260 skilled manufacturing, engineering, construction and maintenance jobs.
