No injuries in explosion at Cornwall, Ont., chemical plant

Plant manufactures monomeric and polymeric plasticizers.

CORNWALL, Ont. – Emergency workers are on the scene of an early morning explosion at a BASF chemical plant in Cornwall, Ont.

Police and firefighters responded to the site of the plant just after 6 am Tuesday morning.

Although the scale of the explosion is not yet known, workers in the plant were reported to have escaped the building unharmed and there were no immediate reports of any injuries.

BASF, a global chemical corporation, has roughly 30 employees at its Cornwall plant, which manufactures monomeric and polymeric plasticizers.
