WINNIPEG—Bus maker New Flyer Industries Inc. has reached a deal to provide 90 Xcelsior diesel buses to New York City Transit Authority and the MTA Bus Company.
Financial details were not disclosed.
The buses will completely be manufactured by US subsidiary New Flyer of America Inc. at its plant in St. Cloud, Minn.
New Flyer has delivered nearly 1,300 buses to New York since 1996.
In July, it reached a contract to build 74 buses for the city and delivery is expected by the end of the year.
Last week, the company announced a large unidentified US customer had delayed placing its order for 90 Xcelsior buses while the purchase undergoes an independent review.
As a result, the Winnipeg-based bus manufacturer lowered its projected 2012 output rate to the equivalent of 34 units per week—down from the 36 EUs per week included in a projection issued March 21.
New Flyer is a manufacturer of heavy-duty transit buses in Canada and the US with manufacturing facilities in Winnipeg, Crookston and St. Cloud, Minn.
