Ice River Springs Water Co. Inc. acquires Fernbrook

Fernbrook will be integrated into Ice River Springs' closed loop plastics manufacturing system.

SHELBURNE, Ont. – Ice River Springs Water Co. Inc. has acquired Fernbrook Springs Bottled Water Company.

In operation since 2005, Fernbrook has a fully integrated manufacturing facility in Halton Hills, Ont. The plant will be Ice River Springs’ tenth in North America and will increase its capacity for private label and branded bottled water customers.

Ice River Springs is the only beverage company in North America to self-manufacture resin in a closed loop recycling system. The operation takes in bottles from municipal recycling programs, sorts, purifies and then produces certified food-grade plastic ready for reuse in 100% recycled water bottles.

Fernbrook products will be integrated into Ice River Springs’ closed-loop system to reduce their carbon footprint.

Blue Mountain Plastics closes the loop

“There’s enough plastic in the world today, we just need to find ways to reuse it,” says Jamie Gott, CEO of Ice River Springs. “This acquisition will further our mission to develop products and processes that are better for people and better for the planet.”

Ice River Springs was founded in 1995 with a 5,000 sq. ft. building in Feversham, Ontario. It is still a privately owned family company and has become the largest private label bottled water company in Canada, owning ten bottling plants: four in Canada and six in the US, plus a recycling facility, Blue Mountain Plastics, in Shelburne, Ontario.
