Fire causes $100,000 in damages at Niagara Falls furnace plant

Can-End Furnaces Inc. Ltd. says damage is minor and production will resume July 30.

NIAGARA FALLS, Ont.: A fire at Can-Eng Furnaces Int. Ltd. caused as much as $100,000 in damages at its production facility in Niagara Falls on Wednesday (July 25).

Can-Eng Furnaces is a manufacturer of industrial heat treating equipment for ferrous and non-ferrous metals. At its Niagara Falls facility, the company produces furnaces for Tier 1 auto manufacturers.

According to a company release, the fire occurred after hours when the facility was not in production. None of the furnaces under production were damaged. The cause of the fire is known, but has yet to be released.

Julie Bond, the company’s marketing coordinator, confirmed there were no injuries and expects the plant to resume operations by Monday (July 30).
