Boeing Winnipeg unionized employees approve early contract extension

Contract includes general wage increases up to 3% by 2017.

WINNIPEG, Man—Boeing Winnipeg and the Canadian Auto Workers (CAW) Local 2169 have reached an early contract extension with its 1,147 employees that will keep jobs at the facility safe through 2018.

The contract includes a general wage increase of 2% in 2014, 2.5% in 2015, 2.5% in 2016 and 3% in 2017. It also includes a one-time ratification bonus of $5,000 and pension improvements.

Boeing Winnipeg is the largest aerospace composite manufacturing centre in Canada, employing more than 1,600 people. The site manufactures complex composite parts for the 737, 747, 767, 777 and 787.
