TORONTO: Magellan Aerospace Corp. has secured a $19 million work package for the Airbus A380 program.
The deal with GKN Aerospace covers 203 parts, mostly most of them machined aluminium detail components.
The manufacturing will be done by Magellan Aerospace (UK) Ltd. with deliveries set to start in June. The company will be investing in 5-axis machinery to handle the work.
The Airbus A380, a double-deck, wide-body, four-engine airliner, is manufactured by Airbus, a subsidiary of EADS (European Aeronautic Defence and Space company) with head offices in Germany and Paris.
GKN Aerospace is the aerospace operation of GKN plc, one of the world’s largest engineering companies.
Magellan designs, engineers and manufactures engines and structure assemblies and components for aerospace markets, and has operating units throughout Canada, the US, the UK and India.
