EMC appoints Jean-Pierre Giroux its new president

VAUGHAN, Ont. — The Excellence in Manufacturing Consortium (EMC) has a new president. The not-for-profit representing 13,000 consortium and online members from across Canada has appointed Jean-Pierre (JP) Giroux to lead the organization.

Giroux moves up from his six-year stint as national director of skills and talent development. He has held positions covering economic development, NGO, management consulting and has worked with manufacturers across Canada.

The announcement was made at EMC’s national Advantage Through Excellence conference in Vaughan, Ont. on Oct. 9.

“With 20 years of experience working for the manufacturing industry coast-to-coast, JP’s expertise, network and energy will be at the centre of shaping the future direction of EMC,” said Al Diggins, EMC’s chairman and one of the founders of the organization. “In bringing Jean-Pierre into the role of president, we bring someone from EMC who understands today’s manufacturing industry challenges and opportunities and is committed to ensuring our members have the tools, resources and support necessary that will help them achieve short-term and long-term success.”

“Recognizing Shawn Casemore’s contribution for an EMC transition in the last two years and Al Diggins being at the heart of EMC for over 20 years, I’m humbled to have the opportunity to take over such a tremendous opportunity and responsibility,” Giroux said. “This has been an easy choice for me to make this shift in my career as I am surrounded by a fantastic organization of great people and highly engaged and caring members.”

Outgoing president Shawn Casemore will continue working with EMC and its network, while providing management support of the organization’s programs and projects.

“I’ve been fortunate to lead EMC through a pivotal time of transition and I look forward to continuing to support Jean-Pierre, the board, EMC’s employees and members in the months and years to come,” Casemore said. “Our manufacturing landscape is changing, and EMC will continue to evolve to ensure it offers significant value and support to its members.”

Incorporated in 1997, EMC helps manufacturers help themselves by tackling common issues and challenges through programs and services.
