$560,000 CED funding for three Laval innovators

LAVAL, Que. — NMX Research and Solutions Inc., Les Produits Plastitel Inc. and IniXium Inc. have landed $563,000 in repayable funding from Canada Economic Development for Quebec Regions.
The three companies are based in Laval, Que.
NMX Research and Solutions, a start-up that carries out and supports drug development programs, is getting $350,000 to go towards a $1,108,474 project. The company specializes in basic research in medicinal chemistry and is being incubated at the Centre québécois d’innovation en biotechnologie.
The project aims to increase NMX’s production capacity through the purchase of research equipment, including a liquid-handling system, a protein purification system, and two instruments for protein characterization.
The will more than double NMX’s staff from nine to 19 employees.
Plastitel Products Inc. will be applying its funding towards a $666,000 investment in new equipment.
The company manufactures plastic parts for thermoforming companies in the medical and transportation industries.
Its project requires the purchase of a digitally controlled machining centre.
IniXium Inc.’s repayable $50,000 contribution will be part of a $100,000 investment in marketing.
The start-up positioned itself in the life sciences value chain, specializing in the research and discovery of medicines and protein chemistry. It’s initial strategy is to market the company’s research and analysis services in the US.
The CED funding will be used for such things as prospecting activities in the target markets, attending trade shows, developing promotional and advertising tools, updating IniXium’s website and its applications for marketing purposes. The contribution will help with the purchase and installation of new research and analysis equipment.
The project will create four jobs.
