Western gets $522M grant from Siemens PLM
In-kind deal gives engineering students access to NX software.
LONDON, Ont. — The University of Western Ontario has been awarded a $522 million in-kind software grant for use in its engineering program.
The grant from the Siemens PLM Software Services Inc., a provider of product lifecycle management (PLM) software and services, provides Western’s Faculty of Engineering classrooms with the same technology used by businesses around the world.
Western University and Siemens say using the NX software for course work, research and other academic studies will help engineering students at the London, Ont. university develop the advanced skills required by the more than 77,000 global customers that employ the software, including 29 of the world’s top 30 automakers.
Longterm Technology Services Inc., a London-based Siemens Channel Partner, helped to facilitate the partnership with the university.
