Uponor resolves patent case with HeatLink, PexCor
Calgary manufacturers licensed to use Uponor technology to make PEX pipe.
MISSISSAUGA, Ont. — Uponor has reached an intellectual property licensing agreement with HeatLink Group Inc. and PexCor Manufacturing Inc. to sell PEX pipe that resolves patent infringement litigation in Canada and the US.
HeatLink and PexCor are affiliated companies based in Calgary that manufacture and sell PEX pipe. The agreement allows their use of Uponor’s patented technology under license.
Uponor had won its patent infringement case in the Federal Court of Canada with a ruling in March and had a case pending in the US. The Canadian ruling required HeatLink, PexCor and related companies to halt manufacture and sale of PEX piping.
Uponor is a supplier of piping systems with Canadian headquarters in Mississauga, Ont.
