LAVAL, Que. — Uniboard is investing $7 million to install a new wood fibre mat-preheating technology at its Mont-Laurier MDF plant to increase productivity.
The company says the process innovation is the first for a North American MDF facility. The Mont-Laurier plant employs 91 workers.
Uniboard Canada Inc. is a manufacturer of engineered wood products, with an installed capacity of over 640 million square feet of raw particleboard, high-density and medium-density fiberboard. Its mills in Val-d’Or, Sayabec, Mont-Laurier and Laval, Que. employ over 800 people.
