DARTMOUTH, NS: The Netherlands’ Defence Material Organization (DMO) has awarded a $25 million contract to Ultra Electronics Maritime Systems (MS) for underwater sonar systems.
Ultra’s Dartmouth, NS division will deliver QUAD receive array and projector technology, including the handling equipment for the multi-static active and passive sonar (MAPS) systems, to DMO in Den Haag, Netherlands, the prime contractor for the MAPS project.

The company said the systems are to be installed on the M-class frigates of the Royal Netherlands Navy.

MAPS will also include a high performance signal processing and display system developed by TNO Defence, Security and Safety, a defence research and development organization in The Netherlands.

The first MAPS system will be delivered in 2011.
