Richmond Hill companies score innovation funding from NRC IRAP

RICHMOND HILL, Ont. — Three Ontario companies are getting $5.6 million in innovation funding through the federal government’s National Research Council of Canada Industrial Research Assistance Program (NRC IRAP).

Funding will support the addition of 36 new jobs among the three Richmond Hill companies.

Applanix Corp. will receive $2 million to support the design, development and global commercialization of its next generation navigation solutions for autonomous vehicles for land air and sea.

Opus One Solutions gets $1.6 million to develop software to lower electricity costs through the smart integration of distributed energy resources, such as solar and storage.

Hibar Systems Ltd. will apply its $2 million to support the development of a high-speed lithium-ion battery manufacturing system aimed at the mass electric energy storage market.
