CALGARY — Pure Technologies Ltd. has been awarded an up to $4 million leak detection contract by Qatar General Electricity and Water Corp.

The Calgary-based asset management technology and services company said the contract, which spans three years, begins this month.

Pure Technologies, through its Abu Dhabi based operations, will provide leak detection services on a significant portion of Kahramaa’s large-diameter pipeline network, which is critical to the delivery of treated, desalinated water for commercial, industrial and residential users.

Its SmartBall technology will be used for pipelines between 600 mm to 1,600 mm in diameter through the contract period. The free-swimming foam ball has an instrument-filled aluminum alloy core that detects and locates very small leaks, gas pockets and structural defects in pipelines.
