Pattern secures PPA for 147 MW Quebec wind project
Project is expected to power up to 27,000 Québec homes annually.
SAN FRANCISCO — Pattern Energy Group has entered into a 25-year power purchase agreement (PPA) with Hydro-Québec at its Mont Sainte-Marguerite wind project.
The 147 megawatt project is south of Québec City, in the Chaudière-Appalaches region. Pattern has partnered with Renewable Energy Systems Canada Inc. on its development.
The Mont Sainte-Marguerite project will use 46 Siemens 3.2 megawatt direct drive wind turbines. Components for the turbines will be sourced from Québec.
Pattern expects the project to provide more than $735,000 annually to its community partners, the municipalities of Saint-Sylvestre and Saint-Séverin, which are active participants in the development of the project.
The project will employ approximately 200 workers on site at the peak of construction activity and create up to 12 permanent jobs once operational.
Upon completion, the wind project is expected to generate enough power for approximately 27,000 Québec homes annually, according to power use statistics from Hydro-Québec.
Pattern Energy Group LP is a developer of renewable energy and transmission projects with more than 3,500 megawatts of wind generation in operation.
