Olymel invests $2M in Red Deer plant for sausage production
Section conversion includes modernized refrigeration facilities and new equipment.
RED DEER, Alta. — Olymel is investing $2 million to convert a section of its pork processing plant in Red Deer, Alta. for the manufacture of fresh sausages aimed at the Western Canadian market.
The investment aims to equip the plant to manufacture fresh sausages for the Western Canadian market.
The food products manufacturer, based in St-Hyacinthe, Que., says the investment will cover modernized refrigeration facilities and new equipment in a separate section of the plant.
Work will begin in mid-July and create 20 new jobs, adding to a current workforce of more than 1,400 employees.
Olymel employs more than 11,000 people at facilities in Québec, Ontario, Alberta, New Brunswick and Saskatchewan.
