NL fish plant destroyed by blaze

150 employees were scheduled to start work at the plant in April.

COTTLESVILLE, NL — The Breakwater Fisheries fish plant in in Cottlesville, NL was destroyed by a fire March 22.

The RCMP said the building was not occupied at the time of the fire and no one was injured.

The cause of the blaze is under investigation.

The federal Industry Department website says the company processes and exports several types of fish including herring and mackerel.

Police say about 150 employees were scheduled to start work at the plant in April.
