Nevada to consider tax breaks for Faraday Future
Governor Sandoval calls special legislative session to approve incentives for Chinese –backed carmaker
LAS VEGAS — Gov. Brian Sandoval has called lawmakers into a special legislative session to approve tax breaks and incentives for electric carmaker Faraday Future.
The governor wants the Legislature to approve a new category of tax abatements that would authorize $215 million in incentives for the Chinese-backed automaker, which announced last week that it wants to bring a $1 billion plant to North Las Vegas.
He’s also asking them to update laws that allow financing for infrastructure projects. Nevada officials want to publicly finance $120 million in water, rail and road improvements at the Apex Industrial Park in North Las Vegas.
Faraday plans to employ 4,500 people at the plant.
