Intertek celebrated MFG MONTH (Manufacturing Month) by hosting two open house/tour events that showcased its recent investments in product testing at two new laboratories.
The company, with locations across Canada, provides quality and safety services to manufacturers and retailers.
Safety glass, window and door manufacturers now have a Quebec option to test their products that saves shipping and testing costs, plus expediting time to market. And consumer product manufacturers and retailers have a new resource in Ontario for performance benchmarking, defect/return investigations and other product intelligence testing projects.
Intertek’s Lachine, Que. testing laboratory is the first in Canada approved by the Safety Glazing Certification Council (SGCC). Capabilities include testing and certification for plumbing, gas/hearth, construction materials, fenestration (safety glass & air/water/ structural) plus electrical products and components.
The tour in Mississauga, Ont. included a ribbon cutting for the product intelligence laboratory, which serves clients locally regardless of where their products are manufactured. Advisory services cover quality and compliance program management, safe and quality product design and product performance analysis.
The open house events included technical talks on topics ranging from ISO 9001:2015 auditing, training and certification to lighting performance and energy efficiency to testing requirements for hazardous locations including pharmaceutical, industrial, grain handling – anywhere accumulations of dust and/or vapour occur.
October is Manufacturing Month in Canada but this year it’s part of a larger, more expansive North American celebration. It’s an ideal opportunity to show your community what your company makes and what it’s made of by staging open house events through the month.
Canadian Manufacturers & Exporters (CME) is collaborating with the US associations involved in Manufacturing Day (aka MFG DAY) to spread the word that what your companies do is key to the wellbeing of our communities and national economies.
Co-producers who are promoting MFG DAY in the US include the Fabricators & Manufacturers Association International (FMA), the National Association of Manufacturers (NAM), the Manufacturing Institute (MI) and the National Institute of Standards and Technology’s (NIST) Hollings Manufacturing Extension Partnership (MEP).
The idea is to welcome students, teachers, parents, job seekers and other local community members at events that showcase modern manufacturing technology and career opportunities.
Not sure how to put an event together? CME and its MFG DAY partner associations have put together easy to follow kits and resources to help you stage open houses.
