MDA to provide $90M of data tech for Israeli satellite

Will add to existing AMOS satellite system.

RICHMOND, BC: MacDonald, Dettwiler and Associates Ltd. (MDA) will be supplying satellite communications technology to Israel Aerospace Industries Ltd. for its AMOS-6 satellite.

The advanced data processing provider based in Richmond, BC said the $90-million contract will be be finalized over the coming month.

The satellite, to be launched in 2014, will add to the coverage provided by the existing AMOS satellite constellation, owned and operated by Spacecom, Israel’s satellite communications service provider.

The system provides fixed and mobile communication services in the Middle East, Central and Eastern Europe, Central Asia, and Africa.

Israel Aerospace Industries employs 16,500 people and generates annual sales of approximately US$3.3 billion.
