Maibec acquires Fraser Timber’s Masardis mill
The operation produces over 100 million board feet of softwood annually.
LEVIS, Que. — Maibec Inc. and Fraser Timber LLC have concluded Maibec’s purchase of the assets of the Masardis Maine lumber mill.
The mill employs about 135 people and can produce over 100 million board feet of softwood lumber annually, which is sold in the US.
Maibec, a wood processor based in Levis, Que., plans to make strategic investments over the next two years in the mill, which produces lumber primarily for the construction and renovation markets. Its new production will serve customers across Quebec, Ontario and the northeast and southern US.
No financial information was released.
Maibec president François Tardif said the mill’s location will the company easier access to the US market.
