Kraft to eliminate artificial preservatives in famous Mac & Cheese
Will be coloured using paprika, annatto and turmeric.
NEW YORK — This is the last year that the original version of Kraft Mac & Cheese sold in the US will contain artificial preservatives or synthetic colours.
In January, Kraft says its macaroni and cheese will be coloured using paprika, annatto and turmeric.
The company is already selling a version, Kraft Mac & Cheese Boxed Shapes, with no artificial flavours, preservatives or synthetic colours.
The Canadian macaroni and cheese version, called Kraft Dinner Original, will eliminate synthetic colours by the end of 2016.
There has been a huge shift away from processed foods in the US and larger food producers are trying to follow their customers in that direction.
Kraft Foods Group Inc. is based in Northfield, Illinois.
