IION gets $50K for advanced manufacturing in N. Ont.

Will collaborate with Canadore College to accelerate manufacturing innovation.

NORTH BAY, Ont. — The National Research Council of Canada Industrial Research Assistance Program (NRC-IRAP) is investing $50,000 to accellerate the adoption of
advanced design, prototyping, manufacturing and productivity technologies by small and medium-sized businesses (SMEs) in Northern Ontario.

The investment in Innovation Initiatives Ontario North (IION), a not-for-profit organization that provides business advisory services and strategic planning advice, will cover Nipissing, Parry Sound, Huntsville and Timiskaming.

IION and Canadore College’s Innovation Centre for Advanced Manufacturing and Production (ICAMP) facility are working together on the Innovation Manufacturing and Facilitation Program (IMFP) to provide specialized services and technology expertise.

IION is a member of the Northern Technology Alliance, which is a collaborative network of organizations from across the major centres in Northern Ontario, and a member of the Ontario Network of Entrepreneurs (ONE).
