LUNENBURG, NS — High Liner Foods Inc. has acquired Atlantic Trading Company LLC, an importer of frozen and fresh salmon products in the US.
The Nova Scotia-based value-added frozen seafood company said it expects the purchase to double its sales in salmon products.
Atlantic Trading is one of the largest importers of frozen Atlantic salmon fillets and portions from Chile and Norway with revenues ranging between US$75 million and US$80 million.
High Liner did not disclose what it paid for the company.
Atlantic Trading is based in Miami, Fla., and has been operating since 1984. It mainly sells frozen salmon prodcuts under the brand “C. Wirthy & Co.” to major supermarkets and supercentre operators in the US.
