GasTOPS gets $950,000 for sensor project

OTTAWA: GasTOPS Ltd. is getting $950,000 from the National Research Council (NRC) of Canada to develop fluids sensors that will monitor the health of industrial machinery.

GasTOPS, an Ottawa-based manufacturer of advanced fluid sensing and analysis products, will develop optical measurement techniques by studying machinery fluids, such as fuels and lubricants.

Funding for the project comes through NRC’s Industrial Research Assistance Program.

GasTOPS’ products include on-line, full-flow oil debris sensors and at-line oil analysis systems for the defence, marine, energy and transportation industries.

The company employs 100 people in Ottawa, Dartmouth, NS and Pensacola, Fla.
