DIRTT adds Corning Willow Glass to its interiors
Versatile glass will make prefab interiors more efficient.
CALGARY — DIRTT Environmental Solutions has entered into a strategic collaboration with Corning Inc. that will add the materials science company’s Corning Willow Glass to DIRTT’s interior construction systems.
DIRTT, a Calgary-based manufacturer of prefabricated interiors, said Willow Glass will improve manufacturing efficiency of its interiors.
It described the 200 micrometer Corning product as 30 times thinner and lighter than standard 6 mm soda lime glass, chemically durable, scratch resistant, bendable and easy to clean. For the first time, DIRTT said it will be able to apply a pristine, durable glass surface to a wide range of next generation products.
Benefits for DIRTT customers include improved accuracy, more rapid delivery, freight savings up to 70%, enhanced acoustic performance, and a wide array of design capabilities.
For integrated technology applications, DIRTT said it will continue to use back painted glass solutions.
Corning, based in Corning, NY, makes specialty glass, ceramics, and optical products.
