Canadian wholesale sales up 2.5% to $55.4 billion
Motor vehicle and parts subsector gained 5.5% to $10.1 billion, the largest gain dollar terms.
OTTAWA — Statistics Canada says wholesale sales rose 2.5% from November to $55.4 billion in December led by the motor vehicle and parts subsector as well as the miscellaneous subsector.
The agency says higher sales were recorded in six of seven subsectors, representing 80% of wholesale sales.
Sales were up 2.4% in volume terms.
Statistics Canada says the motor vehicle and parts subsector gained 5.5% to $10.1 billion, the largest gain in dollar terms in December.
The miscellaneous subsector gained 6.1% to $7.3 billion.
The machinery, equipment and supplies group was the only subsector to fall as it slipped 0.2% to $11.2 billion.
