Boralex powers up in France and Ontario
Wind farms in France to generate 33 MW, Ontario hydroelectric project 16 MW.
MONTREAL — Boralex Inc. is commissioning two wind farms for a total of almost 33 megawatts in France and starting construction on a 16 megawatt hydroelectric power station in Canada.
Comes de l’Arce wind farm (10 megawatts, five Vestas turbines), recently acquired by the Enel Green Power France SAS acquisition, and St-François wind farm (22.8 megawatts, eight GE turbines) have 15-year power purchase agreements with Électricité de France.
The Montreal-based power producer said construction of its Yellow Falls hydroelectric project on the Mattagami River near Smooth Rock Falls, Ont. is underway.
With a total capacity of 16 megawatts, the power station, 75% owned by Boralex, will require between $90 million and $95 million in investments. It’s to be commissioned in the first quarter of 2017.
The project is estimated to generate 67gigawatt hours of power.
Yellow Falls has an initial 20-year power sales contract with four renewal options each for a five-year period.
