VANCOUVER — Ballard Power Systems will supply the Center for Transportation and the Environment with a 150 kilowatt FCvelocity-HD6 fuel cell modules for a bus that will be deployed by CTTransit in Hartford, Conn.

The Vancouver fuel cell developer says the heavy duty power module features a control unit that interfaces with a system controller, making it a plug and play product for any fuel cell or hybrid fuel cell bus platform.

The modules are to be delivered in 2015.

The fuel cell hybrid bus configuration was jointly developed with partners BAE Systems and ElDorado National and is currently in operation with SunLine Transit Agency in Thousand Palms, Calif.

Additional buses with the same configuration using previously shipped Ballard FCvelocity-HD6 power modules are planned; two for SunLine Transit Agency and one for deployment in Boston, bringing the total number of buses in operation using this configuration to five by 2015.
