EDMONTON — Alberta’s incoming premier says he hopes to be sworn in and have a new cabinet in place in about a week.

Jim Prentice is looking at officially becoming the province’s 16th premier at a swearing-in ceremony on Monday, Sept. 15.

Prentice says he also hopes to announce a new cabinet at that time.

However, a firm date for the ceremony has not been set.

He has promised a slimmed-down cabinet, with perhaps 20 or so ministers.

Prentice won the PC leadership election on the weekend with a landslide 77% of the vote.
