AJAC names Volt 2016 Canadian Green Car of the Year
Second generation electric vehicle has a range of up to 85 kilometres, low gas consumption.
VANCOUVER — The 2016 Chevrolet Volt has been named the Automotive Journalists Association (AJA) of Canada’s 2016 Canadian Green Car of the Year at the Vancouver International Auto Show.
The second generation Volt electric vehicle has a range of up to 85 kilometres thanks to new propulsion system while the new 1.5 L range extender using regular unleaded fuel, offers a combined fuel consumption rating of 5.6 L/100 km.
The Canadian Green Car of the Year is selected from eligible entries that are part of the “TestFest” program, in which more than 70 of Canada’s top auto journalists drive the vehicles back-to-back for evaluation, including the Green vehicles.
Green entries are then re-evaluated against each other under a separate criteria.
Vote tabulation and results are handled by the international accounting firm KPMG. Of the four entries vying for for CGCOTY, Chevrolet, Honda, and Hyundai beat out the Smart ForTwo Coupe for the three finalist positions.
