Ultima Foods invests $14.4M in Granby yogurt plant

Will add capacity to its drinkables production line and and optimize operations.

LONGUEUIL, Que. — Ultima Foods is investing $14.4 million to install a new drinkable yogurt production line and optimize operations at its Granby, Que. plant.

The yogurt maker is providing $10.8 million, while Investissement Québec is contributing a $3.6-million interest-free loan.

The investment will create 35 to 40 jobs.

Ultima Foods produces 30% of the yogurt consumed in Canada. Since the 2012 iögo brand launch,
the company has added new formats, such as pouches and smoothies to its product line.

With the success of these products the company had reached the limit of its drinkable yogurt
production capacity.

Ultima Foods, based in Saint-Hubert, Que., employs 660 people in Canada, operates factories in Granby and Delta, BC, and has three Canadian sales offices.
