$2M for cleantech development in BC, Alberta

Innovation centre will help bring new tech from testing to market.

SURREY, BC — The federal government is providing $2 million in funding to support the Foresight Cleantech Accelerator Centre in Burnaby, BC for a clean technology development facility.

The Advanced Resource Clean Technology Innovation Centre, or ARCTIC, will help identify solutions to the challenges faced by western-based resource industries by helping cleantech innovators in BC and Alberta bring new technologies from testing to market.

Cleantech involves services that help to protect the ecosystem and biodiversity; reduce the use of energy, materials and water; and reduce or avoid waste and pollution, including greenhouse gas emissions.

The funding comes through Western Economic Diversification Canada.

The Foresight Cleantech Accelerator Centre is a not-for-profit corporation funded by the BC Innovation Council to deliver its Venture Acceleration Program to clean technology companies in the province.
