Irving to build a $400M tissue plant in Georgia
Expands the tissue manufacturer’s US footprint.
MACON, Ga — Irving Consumer Products is expanding of its US business with the construction of a $400 million state-of-the-art tissue plant in Macon, Ga.
The new plant will create over 200 jobs and allow the company to double its ThruAir Dry capacity for bathroom tissue and paper towels, increasing it by 75,000 tonnes, the equivalent of 15 million cases.
Construction will begin this summer and be completed in 2019.
In November, Irving Consumer Products announced the purchase of a new ThruAir Dry machine, which will be installed at the Macon plant.
Irving Consumer Products, based in Dieppe, NB, manufactures household paper and baby diaper products. It’s part of J.D. Irving, Ltd., a family-owned company that employs over 15,000 people throughout North America in forestry, food, shipbuilding and transportation.
