GM Canada purchases Toronto property to house “mobility campus”
Will house new office, research and development facilities.
TORONTO — GM Canada has purchased a seven acre site in southeast Toronto to develop a multi-use facility.
The facility will be comprised of office space, research & development facilities, vehicle sales and services. It will also include electric car sales and a public experience centre featuring innovations in mobility.
The building at 721 Eastern Avenue, in Toronto’s Leslieville neighbourhood, was formerly owned by Cinespace Film Studios, which is looking to relocate and expand in the Toronto Port Lands.
“This is a major investment in our community by GM. We have fought long and hard for good jobs in our community and this will attract engineering, professional, high-paying jobs to this campus,” said Paul Fletcher, Toronto City Councillor for Ward 30 Toronto-Danforth.
