TORONTO—Toyota Canada will suspend production at its Canadian plants as a result of part shortages in the wake of the earthquake and tsunami in Japan.
The company does not plan to layoff any of its 6,500 Canadian employees and will use the production suspension for training and plant improvements.
Toyota has three assembly plants in Ontario, including a Corolla/Matrix plant and a Lexus plant in Cambridge and a RAV4 plant in Woodstock.
